Why is it Called <Cool Name Goes Here>?
Since the gaming community is going to own this system when we’re finished, we figured the community should have a say in naming it! As part of the design process, we’ll choose a name for the project using input from all of our backers. So yeah - somewhere down the road Cool Name will go There.

So what system does this use? 5E? d20?
This project is about bringing together a ton of amazing game designers and gathering feedback from the community to build a completely new roleplaying game system from the ground up. The system will be designed for fantasy game settings and include all the classic fantasy materials you need to play most settings. Think about what the early D&D rule sets were like - they hinted at the idea of setting without really getting into the details. That’s what we’re doing here.
In terms of dice mechanics, the system specifics aren’t decided yet - in part, we’re planning to learn from YOU what you’re looking for. We do have a clear set of design goals, such as “make it easy for someone who has only ever played 5E to pick up and play this system,” but these decisions haven’t been made yet.

What setting is this system for?
The goal of Cool Name RPG is to build an RPG system perfectly-suited for fantasy games and settings. Although it will have all the classic fantasy content you need to play most settings, it won’t be built around one game or setting. Think about what the early D&D rule sets were like - they hinted at the idea of setting without really getting into the details. That’s what we’re doing here.
Also, a vital part of the project is creating a great support framework for designers, so GMs and publishers can easily adapt these rules to support whatever setting they want to explore.

As a creator, can I use all the text as written in the rule books?
Yes. When the project is complete you will be able to use all the text in the books as it appears in the books. This means you don’t need to rewrite things in your own words if you don’t want to. This is true for the Basic Rules, the Advanced Rules, and any stretch goal texts.

Can I use all the art in the books for my own projects?
Any art that appears in the standard versions of the books will be free to use. Art used in the Masterwork Upgrade books is owned by Mechanical Muse and will not be free to use. We will, however, have stretch goals where we’ll add more art for you to use in personal projects.

Can I use the layout and design elements in my own projects?
We will make all of the layout and design elements in the standard release versions available for anyone to use in their own their own projects. The design elements used in the Masterwork Upgrade versions will be owned by Mechanical Muse. HOWEVER we do have stretch goals that enhance the layout and design elements in the standard versions of the books. If we hit those goals, all of those expanded design elements will be available for you to use.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
